(in german)<br\/><strong>Venue: <\/strong>German Library Congress in Leipzig<br\/><strong>Date:<\/strong> 01.06.2022, 9 &#8211; 11 a.m.<br\/><strong>Location:<\/strong> Lecture Room 10<\/p><\/div><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">In order to improve access to published information, the scientific publication system is undergoing a transformation process from subscription models to publication fees or institution-financed models with the goal of Open Access for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">The desired cost transparency requires the availability of publication costs in a <strong>standardized, machine-readable format<\/strong> and the <strong>automatic exchange<\/strong> for subsequent use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">The German Research Foundation (DFG) commissioned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fz-juelich.de\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forschungszentrum J\u00fclich<\/a> with the task of monitoring the \u201cOpen Access Publication Funding\u201d programme. J\u00fclich\u2019s Central Library is responsible for collecting data and therefore developed the &#8222;J\u00fclich Reporting Tool&#8220;. This tool already offers the possibility to map the &#8222;Total Costs of Publishing&#8220; (TCoP), including non-eligible costs (e.g. color charges).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">In addition, as part of the DFG <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencost.de\/news\/en\/project\">project openCost<\/a>, we are developing a <strong>standardized metadata schema<\/strong> to gather and retrieve publication costs in a structured form as well as its automatic exchange. In doing so, we want to consider (inter)national expertise and include the internationally renowned projects <a href=\"https:\/\/openapc.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">openAPC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ezb.uni-regensburg.de\/index.phtml?bibid=UBR&amp;colors=7&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Electronic Journals Library<\/a> (EZB) in the process. Evidence at publication itself is the base for aggregations at different levels (e.g., institutions, projects, funders).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">In the strategy workshop we want to discuss proposals from the previously separate initiatives as well as the data that is necessary for a complete transparency of publication costs with the participants. Furthermore, we want to develop the <strong>first steps of a strategy<\/strong> on how to comprehensively collect and share TCoP data while avoiding redundancies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">The workshop is aimed at employees from academic libraries who are dealing with the topic of cost monitoring in the OA transformation process.
